AN ORIGINAL PERIOD ITEM

UTHENTIC WAR OF 1812 ERA BRITISH ARTILLERY FROCK, VEST, AND CAPE

HIS BRITISH ARTILLERY FROCK, VEST, AND CAPE IS AN EARLIER COLONIAL ERA "RED COAT" FROCK SET. SOME RESTORATION WORK PERFORMED BY "HISTORIC TEXTILE PRESERVATION" IN SOUTH CAROLINA . THERE ARE VARYING OPINIONS AS TO THE ERA OF THIS SET; "HERITAGE AUCTION HOUSE" CLASSIFIED THE PIECE 1820 - 1830's BRITISH ARTILLERY FROCK SET CEREMONIAL AND ESTIMATED THE AUCTION VALUE AT $5,000; AFTER RESEARCH WE BELIEVE THE PIECE TO BE EARLIER AND CLOSER TO THE WAR OF 1812. THE SET IS IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY SEVERAL CONDITION ISSUES AS PHOTOGRAPHED. RE-SEWING DONE IN SEVERAL SPOTS BY "HISTORIC TEXTILE PRESERVATION". THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A MUSEUM TOP GRADE TEXTILE!

Seen as worn on the Line.

Close up of the layers worn.

Note the detail in assembly.

This is as good as it got for an Officer at this time.

This garment shows "blood stains" per DNA.

Minor repairs seen with sewing that would have been correct for the field.

This set is remarkable that it has survived.

Even the vest is in excellent condition for being close to 200 years old.

Military Unit markings found in garment.

The inside is as nice as the total set.

The detail of a British  Officers uniform is amazing.

This is top of the line in fabric and craftsmanship in the assembly.
