Report
Waugh the
Camp,
Howdy NAF
brothers and sisters and those of ya that are
just checking us out.
For those of
you that don't know, I recently moved up to the
mountains in the NE corner of Washington
state, as the crow flys I'm about 40 mi
west of Idaho and 20 mi south of Canada.
Its only 20ac but its wooded with a meadow and a
nice creek that runs through it with Deer, Elk,
Turkeys, Bob cats, mountain Lions and Bear all
over the place, at some point soon we're going
to start having several NAF encampments during
the year, so start saving yer plews so that ya
can attend 1 or more.
I was able to
stop by the Nationals in Hollister on my way up.
I wasn't able to stay very long but did get the
chance to visit with our brothers from the 3
pines party who hosted our event as well as meet
NAF Captain Bill Cunningham and Howdy Davis, and
several non NAF folks that came. I know that I
missed some great food on
Saturday night (Mark
Rolling Thunder Hatfield make the best Dutch
oven cobbler) and Captain
Jack has always got great venison tacos
or burgers going on at some point, but I did get
to hear some stories and some tales from folks
there.
On to NAF
business,
while I'm
here in WA state, I plan to find as many muzzle
loading groups as I can, and see how many folks
that are up to our standards that I can get
interested in the NAF. I also looked up
rendezvous here and plan to hit as many as I
possibly can, (that shouldn't be to hard as it
only take 5 hrs to cross the whole state) and
spread the word of the NAF and see
what we can do up here. If possible I'd like to
spend time with Byron Ward who is 1 of our
Apprentice's and live in WA also. I'm hoping to
get at least 2 party's started up here so we can
have a Washington company.
As for the
youngsters,
I plan on
going down to a few close towns and meeting with
the Scout Masters to see if we can get something
going with the Boy
Scouts. Before I do that I need to talk
at length with a few of our members that have a immeasurable
amount of experience with the Boy Scouts so that
I have some clue how to approach them with this
so that I do it right. So be fore warned Buck
Conner, Robert Nappin Bob
Larson and Captain Jack Swallow cause
your the experts in this field that I'm hitting
up for knowledge on how to pull this off with
the Scouts.
Well I guess
its time to send this on to Buck so that he can
do what he needs to do with this to make it
readable for ya.
Before I go I
want to add that I'm open to any and all ideas
or suggestions you may have on how or what I or
we can do to better the great assoc of the North
American Frontiersmen. Until then keep yer
powder dry an watch yer topknott
See ya down the trail,
Your friend
and brother,
Tom
