CAMP LIFE

Dealing with edibles and camp wares this issue will address the varied supplies one may carry.  As many of you know I use to deal with period correct edibles, cultivated and foraged through a firm called "Clark & Sons Mercantile". Before that business we had several period correct muzzle loading businesses; a retail and a wholesale shop dealing in those products. With that background one becomes a collector of neat things. With that said; I carry more than I should, feeling if someone runs short I have backup if needed.

If you have any questions as to where the items where acquired (some have been marked) or if you have suggestions on making use of smaller, easier to pack articles please feel invited to do so.

Camp Equipage

My camp equipage is kept cleaned & packed ready for the next camp. I have decided this was the only way to keep track of my equipage. I have spent more hours looking for items used, misplaced, loaned out or something in trying to get ready for an outing.

I now have a 1800 period correct wheel barrow, wooden wheel, hang forged iron wear, etc. - made by the Amish in Ohio. That really helped in lightening the load.

Making a list and keeping it up to date with current replacement prices is very important. Things will come up missing and having a current list will help for insurance purposes like making a claim. Check your insurance policy or better yet with your agent, in most cases your home owner policy will cover most of your losses.
